The cold weather has hit hard and fast. Our trees and fields are full of snow. It was to the point where we didn’t know if we would be able to have a Christmas Tree Season!
The snow drifts on the driveway have been the worst we’ve seen yet. We have a 5’ high snowbank on the side of the driveway that is 6-7 feet wide! In fact our driveway, normally able to have 2 cars pass easily, is barely wide enough for a single car to get up.
The cold weather has our skid steer out of action. The fuel is gelled up so only with copious amounts of propane heat can we run it for 10 minutes before it stalls out again. Hopefully the warmer weather at Christmas will thaw it out.
The Christmas Tree Season went well overall – I wanted to try a new booking software/webpage but the provider had a glitch for which they still haven’t responded to the help ticket! Oh well! Their loss! I will try them again next year maybe…
At least to end on a positive note… the amount of snow will be a fantastic boost to our trees come spring! The snow cover is excellent insulation for the roots and its moisture will keep the roots happy all winter long.
