Well its been a challenging year so far. Trying to learn the land, the conditions, and the equipment. Learning how to spade & wrap trees on the fly after getting a sudden order. Trying to get our new seedlings potted and our propagation up and running. What a season!
Now our growing season is coming to an abrupt halt. Saturday was 30 degrees celsius, today was 15, Monday has a high of 9 and low is -1.
With the end of the growing season we now get to regroup and plan for the new year.
The first major hurdle is to get more sales. This year between Covid, being new owners, and being busy moving/learning the land we managed to only get 2 sales of 8 trees each. While thats a start, its a long way to go before being able to live off of the tree farm income.
Now to add more fuel to the fire, my father and I have both lost our main line of income. So now we have to survive until spring and we are far from self supporting ourselves from the homestead. It may well be a loong winter.
